Elizabeth A. Georges, Director of Business Development
Elizabeth A. Georges is Director of Business Development at Crystal Research Associates, bringing over 20 years of experience in both sales and marketing, 16 of which were exclusively in the pharmaceutical industry. She was hired by Ethicon, a division of Johnson and Johnson, as Communications Manager, Product Marketing. Ms. Georges was responsible for the marketing of four, multi-million dollar sutures, two of which were international. Previously, Ms. Georges worked for Choices Publishing Group as Vice President of Publishing. Prior to joining Choices Publishing Group, she served as Sales Manager for Medical Economics, where she received numerous sales awards as one of the top sales representatives, selling both journal advertising and medical education projects to the majority of the pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers. During her tenure with Medical Economics, she was responsible for the marketing and sales of a new medical publication. Ms. Georges was Senior Account Manager for PW Communications; Sales Representative for Medical and Science Communications Development Co., where she was in charge of publishing a new medical journal. Since leaving the pharmaceutical industry, she has consulted with small organaizations in a sales and marketing capacity. Formerly, Ms. Georges was Vice President of Development for St. Anthony Health Foundation, Director of Business Development for Internet Gift Registries, with responsibility for the sales and merchandizing of new business for a start-up internet company; and Regional Sales Manager for ADVO, Inc. Elizabeth holds a B.S. in Communications from Arizona State, Tempe, AZ.
Andrew J. Deniken, Director of Marketing
Andrew J. Deniken has 13 years experience as an Institutional Equity Sales Person on Wall Street. Over the last 2 years, Mr. Deniken has worked as a consultant to public companies assisting them on numerous projects, while simultaneously building upon and maintaining his buy and sell-side relationships with Wall Street institutions. Prior to that, Mr. Deniken was a Vice President with Dresdner Kleinwort, EVEREN Securities (now Wachovia Bank) and BT Alex Brown (now Deutsche Bank Alex Brown) as an institutional equity sales person, with a focus on healthcare and technology companies. Mr. Deniken started his career as a retail broker at Merrill Lynch. He received a B.S. in Business Management, International Finance from the University of Southern California.
Laura Swartz, Senior Research Writer
Laura Swartz is a research writer at Crystal Research Associates. Prior to her employment with Crystal Research, Ms. Swartz worked as a part-time editor of university publications for the University of Florida Registrar's Office. Through the Gatornest program at UF, Ms. Swartz performed market research and analysis on various industries for outside organizations. She has also been very active with Alpha Kappa Psi, an international professional business fraternity; the Florida Blue Key Speaker's Bureau, a division of Florida Blue Key; and Habitat for Humanity. She recently traveled to Zambia, Africa as a global volunteer for Habitat. Ms. Swartz graduated cum laude from UF with a B.S. in business administration and a concentration in business management, as well as with a B.A. cum laude in liberal arts, with a concentration in English.
Holly Bromer, CFA, Research Writer
Holly Bromer is a research writer at Crystal Research Associates. Prior to working with Crystal Research, Ms. Bromer was head of U.S. Consultant Relations for Gartmore Group, responsible for fostering relationships with institutional investment consultants. Previously, Ms. Bromer worked in Gartmore's marketing department as an investment writer, developing key messages for institutional marketing literature and creating white papers for external distribution. She began her career with Merrill Lynch as a quantitative analyst in the Defined Asset Funds business unit. She received a B.B.A. from Emory University, Goizueta School of Business. Ms. Bromer is also a Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA).
Tom Michael, Research Writer
Tom Michael is a research writer at Crystal Research Associates. For more than 12 years, Mr. Michael was an editor of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the world's oldest and largest English-language reference source. Noted for his editorial integrity and research abilities, he specialized in American and European affairs, working with leading scholars in several countries. In addition to the flagship product, Mr. Michael helped create many new books, DVDs/CDs, and online features for the Encyclopaedia Britannica and Merriam-Webster, a subsidiary company.
Mark Weller, Director
Mark Weller is the founder and publisher of Montreal Business Magazine. Launched in 1986, the magazine is distributed in The Globe and Mail and has grown into a highly respected voice of Quebec business. In 1997, Mr. Weller established a French-language sister publication, Montreal inc., and in 2001 launched a series of publications under the banner of the CANADIAN SUCCESS SERIES. Most notably, he has published two highly successful comprehensive reports on the Canadian biotech industry (BioCanada 2002 and BioCanada 2003, both distributed nationally in The Globe and Mail as well as in the U.S. in the Boston Globe and San Diego Union Tribune). In 2003, he published a survey of the Canadian shipping industry, and has plans underway for magazines involving the country's aerospace, medical device, and high tech sectors.
Scott Lawrence, Research Writer
Scott Lawrence is a Montreal freelance writer and editor who has produced hundreds of articles for business publications dealing with an array of industries and personalities, as well as countless annual reports for companies in Canada. Most recently, he has also undertaken projects in corporate communications and investor relations. A former university educator in Creative Writing, he is the author of two books.
George Mahmourides, Research Writer
George Mahmourides joins Crystal Research Associates with over a quarter century of experience in the public, para-public, and private biotechnology-healthcare-pharma sectors, having recently established a private business practice, Knowledge Leads, Wisdom Follows, to help biotech companies address competitive intelligence and strategic planning issues. Mr. Mahmourides was previously a senior biotech analyst with Desjardins Securities and Groome Capital.com. With a doctoral degree in microbial physiology and an MBA from McGill University, Mr. Mahmourides started his career as a bench scientist at the National Research Council of Canada, followed by another appointment at the Biotechnology Research Institute in Montreal. He eventually accepted a tenure track position as a university professor in Nova Scotia. He has also taught at universities in Montreal and Toronto. Within the last 10 years, he has acted both as a director of R&D and director of business development for various firms in Toronto and Montreal.
