Corporate Snapshot
Electronic Sensor Technology, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets a product line of fast and highly sensitive screening devices under the brand name zNose®, which is able to analyze and identify any chemical, vapor, or toxin in less than 10 seconds, with part-per-trillion sensitivity. The patented zNose® technology, which employs proprietary Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensors and ultra-fast Gas Chromatography (GC) technology to separate vapor samples according to their chemical and physical properties, is the only "electronic nose" to have received validation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Unlike conventional security devices such as "bomb-sniffing" explosive detectors, the zNose® is not restricted in sensitivity or target-specific; it is able to access, evaluate, and identify any sample by converting output signals into precise chromatograms or visual images—trademarked as VaporPrints™—which enable trained personnel to instantly recognize and react to any dangerous, illegal, or toxic compound present. Applications for this technology and product line extend beyond the emerging and increasingly vital market of Homeland Security, for which its utility in airport and ocean-borne cargo screening is currently under testing, to include environmental, industrial (food and beverage, as well as chemical and petrochemical), and life sciences usages. From the date of incorporation of July 12, 2000 until February 1, 2005, Bluestone Ventures (the acquirer of Electronic Sensor Technology) was in the business of acquiring and exploring potential mineral properties in Ontario, Canada. The Company changed its name to Electronic Sensor Technology on January 26, 2005 upon acquiring two corporations that had together owned Electronic Sensor Technology.
