Corporate Snapshot
Neuro-Hitech, Inc. ("Neuro-Hitech" or "the Company") is an early stage pharmaceutical company focused on the development of next-generation therapies for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative disorders. Specifically, the Company seeks to bring to market new drugs that represent significant clinical improvements over current first-generation therapies. Neuro-Hitech aims to obtain technologies that have the potential to enter clinical development within 12 to 24 months of acquisition and focus on driving development in a rapid, cost-effective manner. The Company's primary product candidate, Huperzine A, is a natural alkaloid compound to treat mild to moderate AD. Huperzine A has been approved in China as a prescription product for AD for over a decade, and is currently used as a nutraceutical in the U.S. for cognitive enhancement. Through collaborations with industry partners, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Georgetown University Medical Center, and the Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS), Neuro-Hitech has completed preclinical and Phase I testing in the U.S., which has demonstrated Huperzine A's safety and tolerability when administered orally to older, cognitively normal adults. A Phase II clinical trial to study the compound's safety and efficacy in older adults with mild to moderate stages of AD is also in progress. The Company concluded enrollment in these trials during May 2007, and expects Phase II data to be available by the end of 2007 or beginning of 2008. In addition, the Company has two preclinical programs that were obtained through the acquisition of Q-RNA, Inc. in November 2006. These programs have developed novel disease-modifying drugs (DMDs) that are capable of preventing or reversing the onset of AD, and new anti-epileptogenic compounds to both treat and prevent epilepsy following a brain trauma. Neuro-Hitech began trading on the NASDAQ Capital Market under the symbol "NHPI" on April 24, 2007. The Company had previously traded on the Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board (OTC.BB).
