Corporate Snapshot
Norwood Abbey Ltd is an Australian medical technologies company dedicated to the development of innovative proprietary products and technologies to address important and specific unmet healthcare needs. The Company is comprised of two divisions: Norwood Devices and Norwood Immunology. Norwood Devices has introduced an eye care technology designed to eliminate complications associated with refractive eye surgery and is developing three device-based drug delivery products to facilitate the introduction of medication into the body. The drug delivery technologies include a handheld laser assisted delivery (LAD) system used to enhance the rate of transdermal delivery, a needle-free injector system for rapid subcutaneous or intramuscular delivery both for human and veterinary use, and a micro-needle based device to provide precise controlled delivery capabilities to a specific depth. In May 2004, the Company acquired the Epi-LASIK vision correction product line from CIBA Vision, which employs Norwood's Centurion SES™ System to eliminate the surgeon's need to cut the eye, thus reducing complications often associated with the procedure. Norwood Immunology is pursuing the commercialization of a therapy to boost the body's immune system by employing gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues to regrow the thymus gland (the control center of the body's immune system) to promote improvement in bone marrow function and rejuvenate T cell production. Norwood believes that this technology may provide a significant advantage in enabling patients to resist life-threatening diseases, such as cancer and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Norwood Abbey Ltd is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) under the symbol NAL and on the NASDAQ Level One under the symbol NABYF.PK. Norwood Immunology, a separate legal entity of Norwood Abbey, is listed on London's Alternative Investment Market (AIM) under the symbol (NIM).
