Corporate Snapshot
Procyon Biopharma Inc. is a Montreal-based biotechnology company dedicated to the development of new and innovative therapeutic products to address the unmet needs of targeted large and growing pharmaceutical markets. Procyon brings these products and technologies from the laboratory through advanced clinical trials before licensing them to larger pharmaceutical firms for further development and marketing in exchange for up-front and milestone payments, along with revenues from product royalties upon commercialization. Procyon is developing a balanced pipeline of both mid- and late-stage products in the fields of oncology and infectious diseases. The lead oncology candidate, PCK3145, is a non-toxic therapeutic agent for the treatment of metastatic hormone-refractory prostate cancer (HRPC) and is currently in Phase IIb clinical trials. The virology candidate, PPL-100, is a next-generation protease inhibitor (PI) for the treatment of drug-resistant Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) for which the preclinical stages of development are nearing completion. Procyon's product portfolio also comprises an HIV integrase inhibitor, PL-2500; two diagnostic candidates for prostate and colorectal cancer that have been out-licensed; and Fibrostat®, a topical product acquired opportunistically.
