Corporate Snapshot
Valley Forge Composite Technologies, Inc. ("Valley Forge" or "the Company") develops, manufactures, and distributes next-generation counter-terrorism detection systems as well as instruments for use in satellite systems and other aerospace applications. The Company's main focus is the development and commercialization of its counter-terrorism products, including THOR LVX, an advanced cargo/baggage screening system, and ODIN, a personnel screening system. THOR LVX works by penetrating baggage or sealed cargo containers with high-energy gamma rays to perform a direct chemical detection of narcotics and explosives. By analyzing the chemical signature of the hidden compounds, THOR LVX can determine the identity, location, and quantity of any hazardous materials. THOR LVX can detect the presence of any explosives or narcotics hidden in the cargo container in as little as 30 seconds. According to the Company, THOR LVX provides more accurate detection (+99.6% accuracy), all but eliminating false positives; quicker detection, eliminating the need to manually inspect containers and resulting in a scanning speed that is more than three times faster than the competition; and lower operating costs, expected to be on par with or lower than the competition. The THOR LVX technology is currently in the final stages of testing by the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE), and the Company expects DoE testing and reporting during the third quarter 2009. ODIN, the passenger scanning device, provides a high-contrast and near medical quality image from which operators can detect a wide range of hazardous materials, such as plastic or composite weapons, glass vials, narcotics, and explosives. The system's ability to detect metallic and non-metallic articles, high throughput (720 persons per hour), and convenience (does not require individuals to remove shoes, coats, or personal belongings) provides advantages over alternatives currently in use. In addition, the Company markets LOKI, a nuclear explosion detection system, as well as small satellite control instruments for aerospace entities such as the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
